Traditional holidays should be a special time reserved for family.

In my opinion, traditional holidays are important for building a strong bond between a family and our community. To keep in touch with more distant family and family friends. A person or a family, who organizes a particular ceremony, could do even more interesting to keep the event from being boring. For example, our grandmother organizes a special day one day before our Christmas, which we call Badnji dan. Not every orthodox family does that. It is a ritual, in which our grandmother is throwing candies and coins into the hay and we are searching for it. That is an old Serbian tradition that we are still keeping alive.

For teenagers it is important to take part in holidays. First of all, I think because they are enjoyable to celebrate and, second of all, because they are important for the preservation of cultural heritage. I reckon that teenagers should not see cultural ceremonies as a boring event but as a beautiful opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

Teenagers today will become parents one day and will want to spend the holidays in a traditional way with their children. They have to enjoy the time spent with the family, because once day it will all be over. So at least, I know I will.
